MiG-23 'Flogger'

This section is dedicated to pictures of the MiG-23 'Flogger' fighter.  All pictures in this section are original and are part of the Sword of the Motherland Foundation collection.  All were taken at some time when the aircraft was in active service during the Cold War. 

  

  

Coming in low over the sea

In this photo you can see a fully armed MiG-23 flying at low altitude over the sea.  The picture was taken sometime during the late 1980's, but the photo does not state where it was taken.

  

The MiG-23 Flogger

Here is a photo of a MiG-23 waiting on the runway at a European air show.  In this you can see the intake covers, pilot ladder, and landing gear.

This is another photo of the same MiG-23 at the air show.  In this picture you can see the engine, tail, and its rear landing gear.

  

Low speed flight

Here is a MiG-23 'Flogger' in flight with its wings in the fully extended position.  It was taken in 1987 between September and August by a US Navy photographer on board the USS Oldendorf.

         

The Flogger with wings spread

Here is a photo of a MiG-23 at low speed with its wings in the extended position.  The camouflage pattern of the aircraft can also be easily seen.  The picture was taken in November 1986.

 

Close Encounter

This close-up photo of a Soviet MiG-23 is full of detail.  In addition to the armament, many panel details, and even the helmet of the pilot can be seen.
